For the project
Connecting People, with the help of
Medea Research Centre, I was introduced to
Herrgårdens woman society (HKF). HKF is an NGO (Nongovernment Organization) for immigrant woman in Malm^oulm;. They are working towards breaking the cultural, lingual, and other barriers and be known in the Swedish environment that is has adopted them as a citizen of its own.
During the course of this project we went on a journey to explore ways of communicating with the Swedish society.
We explored what each individual’s talents and strength points are.
And discovered surprising and interesting facts.
As part of the project we contacted a group of Swedish women who owned a farm and were interested in DIY crafts, cooking, and learning about other cultures.
I created a scenario were I, as an individual, am lacking a certain skill; a skill that at least one of the members of HKF possess.
I discussed the idea with them and they welcomed it. One of the ladies even volunteered to help me with the experiment.
We filmed the session and I put a subtitle on it and presented it at the student union office.
I asked the student union to help us create an event with HKF members for the purposes of introducing them to the student community.
In the end what is very interesting is that it turned out that the biggest limitation is the thought of obstacles as barriers.
